- Dust or fiberglass flecks near ceiling fixtures. This means the material is breaking down or has been disturbed, often by rodents or a past contractor walking through the attic.
- Black streaks along insulation edges. This is air infiltration moving dirty attic air through the insulation. Your attic floor is leaking, and the insulation is now acting as an air filter instead of a thermal barrier.
- Damp or matted sections. Palmdale doesn’t get much rain, but roof leaks, bathroom fan exhaust piped into the attic, and condensation from temperature swings can soak insulation. Wet fiberglass never fully recovers its R-value.
